To Do on Sushi Hippos

G'day.

Mainly so I can keep a track of things, but also so you can see the progress as it (doesn't?) happen. I've decided to put up a list of things that I need to do.

• Actually blog once in a while!
• Put some "style" into the links page,
  • (Update: Done. Not quite happy with it yet, but it's progressing)
• Put pagination on the blog pages,
• Actually publish one of the things I've done for JQuery,
• Make the blog comments a little better
• Misc stuff I haven't thought of yet,
  • (Update: Standardised the Headings positions for each page.)
  • (Update: Added historical retrospect below.)
• Create a 'How To' for basic computer stuff. (This'll be mainly for my Mum, but hey, if it helps you, awesome.)
• Increase visitation to the site via mysterious internet related activities.
• & finally, delete To Do page

That'll do for now. With the current workload at work, I'll be lucky if I want to turn my computer on at home, let alone complete any of the above... Still, God works miracles.

Oh, and incase you're wondering what I've done in to date here's a brief run down so you don't think I'm slacking off... Even if I am

• Started from Scratch with a single page (back in mid 2002),
• That single page then underwent 3 or so design changes,
• Made that single page read from a database (in MS Access - don't hate me),
• The site fulfilled it's role while I was in Tokyo for a year (At that point it was known as "J.Blogs" - The Japan Blogs. Witty, no?),
• When I came home the site and I had a hiatus where nothing was done,
• Brought the site back to life & started coding it in PHP & MySQL,
• After getting the site to a point where it was semi-usable, the wonderful free hosting arrangement I had ceased,
• Once I changed jobs to the web development company that I currently work for, I tried to make PHP work on IIS, and get it to talk to the database. (This was a dismal failure and the site remained online, but totally and utterly broken.)
• Decided to bite the bullet and recode the whole thing ASP Classic,
• Included Red to the site,
• Tried different things with the gallery page (however I was frustrated with the lack of box-like thinking in our collective photography when nothing fit the fixed width / height gallery display I had created - I started to avoid this section),
• Worked on the different sections & moved them to ASP,
• Filled out the backend systems to a more functional state,
• Added Lizzie to the site,
• Redesigned the blogs section to make way for the wysiwyg editor I had put in the backend,
• Added Inspire-mint, the About page and this To Do page,
• Changed the way that the gallery worked / looked and uploaded over 35 photos.
• Finish blog comments.
• Do something with the photos.
• Added in permanent links to the InspireMints.

Things that I thought I'd do, but have no idea why (abandoned stuff).

• Add some sort of poll into the blog,
  • (What was I thinking? I can't even think of a topic that I would poll.)
• Cable the house with Cat5 ethenet
  • (I got wireless)
• Fly using creamed pop-tarts as fuel.
  • (I'm just making things up now)
